Kings present Dodgers theme at home game
The Los Angeles Kings spread some love to a fellow team from Los Angeles on Thursday, but Tommy Lasorda wasn’t as quick to let the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets in on the love.
At “Dodgers Pride Night” at Staples Center, the Dodgers Hall of Famer had the honors of dropping the ceremonial puck. As seen in the video above, Lasorda shared some words with captain Dustin Brown then shook the captain’s hand before walking off, all the while ignoring
Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson.
But was it a mistake? Hardly.
Lasorda, later speaking with FOX Sports West’s Patrick O’Neal, explained the awkward – yet deliberate move.
“You do not talk to the opposition,” Lasorda said in reference to Johnson, a former King who left Los Angeles on less than favorable terms.

Among the many other Dodgers-themed activities of the night, the one that stood out the most occurred before the game began as the Kings wore special Dodgers-themed hockey jerseys during their warm ups. The jerseys were later auctioned off at the Kings Care Foundation booth during the game.

Last season, during the Freeway Series between the Dodgers and the Angels, the Kings made a stop at Dodger Stadium while on their Stanley Cup victory tour. All three Southern California teams lined up across the mound to take a group picture with the Cup.
