Hall of Fame baseball writer Tom Gage joins FSDetroit.com staff

Tom Gage, a Detroit native, was voted into the writers' wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in December.

Hall of Fame baseball writer Tom Gage, who’s covered the Detroit Tigers for nearly four decades, joins the FOXSportsDetroit.com team starting Monday.

From Mark "The Bird" Fidrych to the 1984 World Series championship season to the Tigers’ recent string of four division titles, Gage has been there every step of the way.

The longtime Detroit News Tigers beat reporter will begin writing from spring training in Lakeland, Fla., next week and will continue to offer his commentary and analysis on the team throughout the summer and hopefully well into October.

"We’re thrilled to be adding Tom to our already strong team of baseball writers," said Greg Hammaren, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports Detroit. "To have a Hall of Famer in the mix is pretty special."
