Vince, Ball new faces in England test squad vs Sri Lanka

LONDON (AP) Batsman James Vince and right-arm bowler Jake Ball are the two uncapped players in England's test squad to face Sri Lanka in the first of three tests beginning May 19 at Headingley.

England selectors named the squad Thursday, retaining most of the side which clinched the recent four-test series in South Africa with two wins and a draw.

Alex Hales is set to continue as captain Alastair Cook's opening partner, with his Nottinghamshire teammate Ball earning a call-up by taking 19 wickets in his first four county championship matches this season.

Ball adds a seam option alongside Stuart Broad, Jimmy Anderson and Steven Finn for the opening Leeds test.

The second test is set for May 27 at Chester-le-Street and the third from June 3 at Lord's.
