Scotland choose paceman Main over Wheal for World Twenty20

EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) Fast bowler Gavin Main was the only player in Scotland's squad for the World Twenty20 who did not tour Hong Kong and Dubai last month.

The 20-year-old Main, spending the winter in New Zealand, replaced 19-year-old paceman Bradley Wheal on Monday in the 15-man squad for the tournament in India next month.

Preston Mommsen is the captain of a team which is in Group B with Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Hong Kong. The Scots have warmup games against Oman and the Netherlands.

Scotland still seeks a first match win in the World T20. It has lost three of four matches – one of them a no result – and did not qualify for the last three editions.

Scotland: Preston Mommsen (captain), Kyle Coetzer, Alasdair Evans, Calum MacLeod, Con de Lange, Gavin Main, George Munsey, Josh Davey, Mark Watt, Matt Machan, Matthew Cross, Michael Leask, Richie Berrington, Rob Taylor, Safyaan Sharif.
