India 415-7 on day 2 of 2nd test vs. England
VISAKHAPATNAM, India (AP) India reached 415-7 in its first innings at lunch on Friday, day two of the second test against England.
Ravichandran Ashwin was unbeaten on 47 runs, while Jayant Yadav was batting on 26 not out.
Resuming from the overnight score of 317-4, Ashwin put on 35 runs with Virat Kohli (167) for the sixth wicket.
Ben Stokes dropped Ashwin (on 17 not out) at slip off Moeen Ali (3-77) in the 101st over. However, the very next ball Stokes caught a sharp catch to dismiss Kohli.
The India skipper faced 267 balls in all, and hit 18 fours.
Ali then struck twice in the 105th over, trapping both Wriddhiman Saha (3) and Ravindra Jadeja (0) lbw. Saha reviewed but the decision was upheld.
Jadeja didn't opt for the DRS review, even though the ball seemed to be missing leg stump.
India had lost three wickets for 13 runs, diminishing its powerful position, but Ashwin and Yadav then added 52 runs for the eighth wicket, taking the score past 400.
