Fast bowler James Anderson and all-rounder Ben Stokes returned after missing England's first test defeat due to injuries, replacing Steven Finn and Jake Ball.

Pakistan kept the same team which won at Lord's by 75 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the four-match series.
