England batsman Taylor retires because of heart condition
NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) England batsman James Taylor has been forced to retire because of a serious heart condition.
Taylor's county side, Nottinghamshire, made the announcement on Tuesday.
Nottinghamshire said scans have revealed that the 26-year-old Taylor has a ''very serious heart condition'' that is similar to that of former soccer player Fabrice Muamba, who collapsed during a game in 2012.
Taylor will undergo an operation soon.
England team director Andrew Strauss said ''it is immensely cruel that such a hard-working player will be unable to fulfil his great potential in the international arena.''
Taylor played seven tests and 27 one-day internationals for England.
