England 34-1 in response to India's 455
VISAKHAPATNAM, India (AP) England reached 34-1 in its first innings at tea on day two of the second test after India was bowled out earlier Friday for 455.
Joe Root was unbeaten on 22 and Haseeb Hameed on 9 not out after England skipper Alastair Cook (2) was bowled by Mohammed Shami in the third over.
England's bowlers did well to keep India below 500 after the hosts had resumed day two at 317-4.
India captain Virat Kohli fell for 167 and the other resuming batsman Ravichandran Ashwin completed his eighth test half-century, putting on 64 runs for the eighth wicket with Jayant Yadav (35).
Ben Stokes had Ashwin caught behind for 58.
Adil Rashid then accounted for the last two wickets: Jayant Yadav was caught at point while Umesh Yadav holed out to Moeen Ali (3-98) in the deep.
