England 3 wickets away from big win over Sri Lanka
LEEDS, England (AP) James Anderson carved through Si Lanka again on Saturday, leaving England three wickets away from an innings win inside three days in the first test.
The seam bowler had 4-28 in the tourists' second innings to leave them 116-7 at tea, still 91 short of England's first-innings 298. Anderson picked up 5-16 as Sri Lanka was bowled out for 91 in its first innings on Friday.
With Anderson again rampant in swinging and seaming conditions at Headingley, only Kusal Mendis with 53 offered any resistance for Sri Lanka.
Even with a significant amount of time lost to rain, England was surging toward a convincing win to start the three-match series.
The only downside for England was a knee injury to allrounder Ben Stokes that prevented him from bowling.
