Broad still a consideration for England limited-overs teams
Fast bowler Stuart Broad was still in the minds of the England selectors even though he was not picked for the limited-overs series against South Africa, coach Trevor Bayliss said on Wednesday.
Broad has not represented England in one-day internationals since the Cricket World Cup, and in Twenty20s since the 2014 World T20, where he captained England. He's made it known he's keen to play for England, and in the next World T20 in India in March.
Bayliss said on Wednesday they wanted to keep both resurgent teams together a little longer. The ODI side has won two of its last three series, and the T20 side its last six matches.
But Bayliss added he would like more experience in the side for the World T20, and the selectors want Broad to be available.
The return from a shoulder injury of allrounder Ben Stokes appears to have come at the expense of fast bowler Liam Plunkett, who impressed in the T20s against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates last month.
The five-match ODI series starts on Feb. 3 in Bloemfontein, and the two T20s are set for Feb. 19 and 21.
