WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) Australia beat New Zealand by an innings and 52 runs in the first test at the Basin Reserve on Monday to take a 1-0 lead in the two-test series:


New Zealand, 1st Innings 183 (Mark Craig 41 not out, Corey Anderson 38; Josh Hazlewood 4-42, Nathan Lyon 3-32, Peter Siddle 3-37).

Australia, 1st Innings 562 (Adam Voges 239, Usman Khawaja 140, Steve Smith 71; Tim Southee 2-87, Trent Boult 2-101).
