Wofford 38, Samford 23

Three players rushed for more than 100 yards as Wofford pulled

away from Samford in the second half to win 38-23 on Saturday

night.

The Terriers (2-1, 1-0 Southern Conference) rolled up 443 yards

rushing for the game and outscored the Bulldogs 21-7 in the second

half. Eric Breitenstein ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns

while Donovan Johnson (173 yards) and Mitch Allen (120 yards) each

scored one touchdown. Two of Breitenstein’s scores came in the

second half as the Terriers built a 31-16 lead with 8:42 remaining

in the game.

Wofford has won 11 home openers in a row.

Samford (1-2, 0-2) led 13-7 after a 3-yard touchdown run by

Kelsey Pope with 9:51 to play in the second quarter. Mitch Allen’s

21-yard touchdown with 51 seconds left in the half gave Wofford the

lead for good 17-13.

Samford’s Dustin Taliaferro had 231 yards passing and a TD.
