Weber State supporting Chattanooga community
(STATS) – Weber State University is aiding a Chattanooga community that is mourning a school bus tragedy earlier this week.
Weber State, whose football team will play at Chattanooga on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs, are collecting financial donations for the families affected by Monday's school bus crash that killed six children and injured dozens more from Woodmore Elementary School.
Donations can be made on the Weber State athletics website at http://www.weberstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB-OEM-ID=8600&ATCLID=211317996.
“Athletics is a vehicle to bring people together for something bigger than the game and this is an opportunity for all of us to come together and think about others,” Weber State athletic director Jerry Bovee said. “This is an awful tragedy and we want to do our part to support them.”
Before Weber State played at South Dakota earlier this season, South Dakota held a fundraising drive for the wife of Weber State coach Jay Hill, Sara, who is battling Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The Weber State and Chattanooga players will honor the victims with stickers on their helmets at Saturday's game.
