Utah is highest-ranked ‘underdog’ vs. unranked team in last 20 years
Utah has played the role of “underdog” since joining the Pac-12, but recently momentum has shifted towards the program acting more like a powerhouse.
Undefeated through six games, Utah is perhaps the hottest team in the country. When the Utes travel to Los Angeles to take on Southern California at The Coliseum, however, the Utes are once more considered underdogs. This weekend, though, Utah is a historic underdog.
According to ESPN.com's Ted Miller, Utah (ranked No. 3 overall in recent AP Top 25) is the highest-ranked team to be considered an underdog vs. an unranked opponent in the last twenty seasons.
No. 3 Utah is a 4-point underdog at unranked USC. Utah is highest-ranked team to be an underdog to an unranked foe in last 20 seasons.
