Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham expected his Utes to be in one of the Pac-12's top bowl games. Instead, the Utes were chosen to play in the sixth bowl; however, they get the opportunity to play rival BYU.

When asked about the Las Vegas Bowl, Whittingham said that he was surprised by where his team was placed.

While the Utes may have been overlooked during the bowl selection, the game against BYU has become one of the hottest bowl game tickets in recent memory.
