USC is strangely great vs. Top 3 teams, historically.

It's a random bit of history, certainly, but looking back USC has had lots of success vs. teams ranked No. 3 overall in the AP Top 25.

USC takes on No. 3 Utah at The Coliseum this weekend; USC last played a team ranked third-overall in 2006, Michigan, and won 32-18. USC hasn't lost to a team ranked No. 3 overall since 1998, when the Bruins defeated the Trojans 34-17. USC's most impressive victory over a team ranked third was vs. Ohio State in 1972 — USC won 42 to 17.

According to ReignOfTroy.com, USC is one of just three schools to have a winning record vs. 3rd-ranked teams.
