Clay Helton becomes fourth USC coach vs. Notre Dame in as many years

Helton will be the fourth head coach to lead USC vs. Notre Dame during the last four seasons.

When Trojans’ interim head coach Clay Helton takes over this weekend, he will become the fourth USC head coach to face Notre Dame in as many years.

Helton, who previously served as offensive coordinator for USC, also served as interim head coach for USC in 2013. Other coaches to face Notre Dame in the past few seasons: Lane Kiffin (2012), Ed Orgeron (2013) and Steve Sarkisian (2014). USC is 1-2 in its last three games vs. Notre Dame. 

USC defeated Notre Dame last season, 49-14. Notre Dame is currently ranked No. 14 in the most recent AP Poll. USC is unranked.
