Clay Helton, USC's interim head football coach, has been in this position before. He was also named USC's interim coach during the 2013 Las Vegas Bowl; USC won.

Now that Helton is back in a position to lead the Trojans, he started off his tenure with a heartfelt letter to USC fans. Helton addresses the obvious turmoil that led to him getting the nod for the position in the first sentence, then asks everyone to fight “in the face of adversity” as a Trojan family.

“It is a unique honor to lead this program, and we are very fortunate to have a group of first-class student-athletes wearing cardinal and gold,” wrote Helton. “We will continue to strive as one unit toward a Pac-12 South Championship.”

Helton is reportedly interested in earning the full-time head coaching gig at USC if it's offered to him.
