USC headed back to national prominence? The ‘other team’ needs to get out of the way first
USC's been all the talk as pundits preview the 2015 college football season. The Trojans are loaded at virtually every position despite losing a slew of prominent players to the NFL.
But if USC is looking to get back on the national scene, the Trojans need to do a little housekeeping in L.A. before going national. ESPN's Kyle Bonagura previews the Trojans' upcoming season and subtly reminds Trojans fans that they've had no luck the last three seasons beating the other "L.A. team."
"USC has endured a very un-Trojan-like six-year stretch, reaching double-digit wins just twice since 2009," Bonagura writes. "But Steve Sarkisian, with an army of skill players at his disposal, is steering the Trojans back toward Pac-12 — and national — prominence. He just needs that other team from LA to get out of his way first."
This season just might be the year USC knocks off the Bruins, who still have to figure out which quarterback will start the season.
But if the Trojans reel off some impressive wins to start the season, they'll quickly reclaim their town weeks before the big showdown against UCLA.
