Stanford lands at No. 7 in College Football Playoff rankings

Stanford made a huge jump in the second installment of the College Football Playoff rankings.

After being ranked No. 11 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, the Cardinal shot up to No. 7 on Tuesday night. 

Stanford (8-1, 7-0) benefitted from losses by LSU, TCU and Michigan State. 

The Cardinal have three more games left this season: Oregon, Cal and No. 4 Notre Dame. 

The six teams ahead of Stanford are Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Iowa and Baylor.
