Auburn defensive coordinator and former Florida coach Will Muschamp is getting some consideration for the coaching vacancy at South Carolina, a source told FOX Sports Monday morning.

Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has been considered the front-runner for the Gamecocks vacancy, although now that the Georgia coaching job is open, South Carolina is in a tricky spot. Smart is an alum of Georgia, where he is considered one of the Dawgs’ primary targets.

The 44-year-old Muschamp was 28-21 at UF before being fired last season.

Muschamp is going to get some support from former Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier, who still carries a lot of clout with althletic director Ray Tanner.
