SEC Football: Three Things to Watch For in Week Eleven
SEC Football is about to kick off Week Eleven! We here at Southbound and Down have come up with the three most compelling storylines to keep your eye on this week. Enjoy.
3. Can LSU Bounce Back?
Last season, LSU was riding high. Then they lost to Alabama and the wheels seemed to come off. The Tigers dropped back to back games against Ole Miss and Arkansas. Can they avoid a similar collapse this season?
The Tigers face a tough Arkansas team this week. Austin Allen and Rawleigh Williams III will give the Tiger defense a tough test. Also, the Hog defense will look to make life difficult for Leonard Fournette and the Tiger offense. It will be interesting to see how the game goes.
2. Is South Carolina for Real?
Over the past three weeks, South Carolina has appeared to turn a corner. Freshman quarterback Jake Bentley has been a revelation. However, the Gamecocks haven’t played any defenses with a pulse.
That will change this week. South Carolina travels to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators. The Gators got whipped by Arkansas last week, but they still have one of the toughest defenses in the SEC. How will Bentley and the Gamecocks fare against Jalen Tabor and company? It will be interesting to see.
1. Is the Auburn Backfield Healthy?
Auburn is a talented team, but the Tiger backfield is a bit banged up. Sean White is nursing a shoulder problem, which caused him to miss the start last week against Vanderbilt. In addition, Kerryon Johnson is still not 100 percent after sustaining an ankle injury several weeks ago. Finally, Kamryn Pettway looked like he pulled something late in the Vanderbilt game.
So how healthy will the Tigers be this week? Hopefully for their fans, Sean White and at least one of the two running backs will be a full go. If they aren’t, the Tigers will struggle to move the ball against a tough Georgia Bulldog defense.
