QB shuns Alabama offer for Princeton

(STATS) – California prep quarterback Brevin White has reaffirmed his commitment to the Princeton recruiting class over FBS national champion Alabama.

The Crimson Tide program hosted White on campus two weekends ago after offering White a scholarship on Jan. 25. But the signal-caller from Lancaster, California, later told ESPN he will stick to the verbal commitment that he made to Princeton last July.

The second signing period begins Wednesday. Ivy League schools such as Princeton do not offer national letters of intent like most Division I programs.

“The main reason I decided to stick was because Princeton offers me opportunities to fulfill my aspirations on and off the field,” White told ESPN. “Alabama is a first-class institution and a program with a great education, but Princeton checks more boxes personally for me. Princeton is the best fit for who I am.”

ESPN’s No. 228-ranked prospect received scholarship offers from Arizona State, Memphis, Utah, Washington and Washington State, among others.
