Promotion will keep Norvell with Sun Devils
Arizona State has promoted offensive coordinator Mike Norvell to
deputy head coach.
One of the top young assistants in college football, Norvell had
been mentioned as a possible candidate for numerous head coaching
jobs, but Sun Devils head coach Todd Graham pushed hard to keep him
in the desert.
The 32-year-old Norvell has led an offense that amassed over
12,000 yards and 1,000 points in two seasons, most in a two-year
span at Arizona State since 1972-73.
This season, the Sun Devils set a school record by scoring 50
points six times and their offense finished ninth in scoring and
29th in total offense.
Arizona State won 10 games this season and will face Texas Tech
in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30.
