The Penn State Nittany Lions are ninth in this week’s AP Poll and continue to climb the ranks behind their 8-2 record. They are 6-1 in Big Ten play with a 24-21 upset victory over Ohio State this season.
Penn State has won six conference games in a row since falling 49-10 to Michigan back on September 24. Offense has earned 400 yards or more in five of their six victories.

Running back Saquon Barkley leads the conference in rushing yards with 1,113 rushing yards. Quarterback Trace McSorley is fourth in the Big Ten in passing yards with 2,390 yards. McSorley also has 16 passing touchdowns and five interceptions.
The defense came up big last week, forcing five fumbles against Indiana last week in a 45-31 victory. Nittany Lions defense only allowed 110 rushing yards on 41 carries as well.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights remain the only winless team in the Big Ten. It’s been a rough time in head coach Chris Ash’s first season. They have lost their last seven games.
The Scarlet Knights are 0-7 in conference play and 2-8 on the season. They were shutout last week 49-0 against the Michigan State Spartans. It is the third game Rutgers has been shutout by a Big Ten opponent.
The defense allows a conference-worst 251.3 rushing yards per game. They have allowed 100 rushing yards or more in nine games this season. Michigan State ran for 277 rushing yards and three touchdowns in last week’s loss.
Rutgers offense earned just eight first downs last week. They are averaging just 15.9 first downs per game as a team. It’s been hard for the team to find an offensive leader. Running back Robert Martin leads the team in rushing yards with 548 yards this season.
