How has Royce Freeman been better than LSU’s Leonard Fournette this season?

It’s evidently clear that LSU running back Leonard Fournette is the best back in the entire country and is arguably one of the most dynamic players in recent memory.

However, Oregon running back Royce Freeman is outpacing Fournette in two very important categories this season: yards after contact and missed tackles.

Per CFB Film Room, Freeman has 120 more yards after contact than Fournette and also has 20 more missed tackles. In fact, Freeman has 29 missed tackles in Oregon’s past two games alone.

While Freeman cannot compete with Fournette in terms of rushing yards (1,202 to 997), yards per carry (8.0 to 6.6) or touchdowns (14 to 9), it is fair to say that Freeman is perhaps undervalued nationally.
