Oregon DE DeForest Buckner to stay
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) Oregon defensive end DeForest Buckner will stay with the Ducks for his senior year.
Buckner announced his decision Wednesday. In a statement posted on the team’s website, Buckner said he wanted to finish his degree. He also believes that another year of experience will help his development for the pros.
Buckner has started 23 straight games. He had 81 total tackles and a team-high 13 tackles for loss this season.
Oregon (13-2) beat Florida State in the Rose Bowl to advance to the national championship game against Ohio State in college football’s first playoffs. The Ducks fell to the Buckeyes 42-20 on Monday.
Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota announced his decision to declare early for the NFL draft on Wednesday, and defensive lineman Arik Armstead also announced that he would forgo his senior season.
