National Signing Day News Board: Top Storylines and Recruiting Rankings

With February 1 behind us there have been discussions around the internet of interesting stories and who won National Signing Day. We pulled some of our favorites.

Aggie Related News First

Johnny Manziel was back in College Station to welcome the new Aggies. He stopped by the TexAgs lunch hour to chat with the crew.

Several folks took a stab at summarizing the Aggies’ 2017 recruiting class including the folks at Gridiron Now, College Football News, and the Battalion. If you haven’t checked out our National Signing Day coverage at the Gig’Em Gazette via or our post National Signing Day reaction, you should give that a read first.

As for highlight individuals of the class, there is somewhat of a consensus regarding the Aggies best recruits. Kellen Mond, Anthony Hines, and Jhamon Ausbon. SEC Country agrees and put together a profile of those three stars.

In non-football news, Emmit Smith’s daughter Rheagen signed with the Aggie soccer team.

Strange commitments

The Aggies had a relatively quiet National Signing Day. Joshua Rogers was the only previously uncommitted player to sign with Texas A&M on Wednesday morning. If that wasn’t crazy enough for you, there were a few commits in particular that found unique ways to commit to their prospective schools.

News would break later on that Cordarrian Richardson, who committed to Maryland with a hot air balloon from space (no that’s not a typo), ended up signing elsewhere.

Lots of Top 25 Class rankings

USA Today, which based it’s list off of Scout’s service put together their top 25 recruiting rankings for the class of 2017. Each service will have their rankings and more analysis to come. Saturday Down South compiled a quick list of where each SEC school finished after National Signing Day.

Alabama won the day again, for what feels like the umpteenth time in a row. Even still, how did the SEC fare as conference? FanSided ranks the power five conferences based on their recruiting classes.

Even though September and the start of the 2017 season are months away, it’s never to early to start talking about college football again. So, with that in mind, ESPN was kind enough to put forth their annual Way to Early Top 25 Rankings.

Last, but certainly not least, the Aggies dominated every other program in the state of Texas on National Signing Day.  Looking at you tu. Mic drop.
