Morgan State player killed in car crash

(STATS) - Morgan State University is mourning the loss of a football player killed in a car crash Sunday morning in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Howard County police said 21-year-old Saif Bryant was the only passenger in the car when it left the road for an unknown reason and struck a tree, catching fire, news reports said.

Bryant, from nearby Columbia, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. A junior defensive lineman, he was majoring in physical education.

The accident is under investigation.
