You’ll never guess who won Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week (OK, you might)

Mike Carter

Jalen Watts-Jackson was a relative unknown until Saturday.

Now the Michigan State defensive back is going to go down as one of the all-time Spartan heroes for his game-winning fumble return for a touchdown.

And the Big Ten recognized his efforts by naming him the conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week.

Watts-Jackson, a sophomore Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s, grabbed a mishandled snap from Michigan punter and returned it for a game-winning touchdown as the Spartans stunned the Wolverines on Saturday in Ann Arbor.

Unfortunately for Watts-Jackson, his joy was short-lived because he suffered a season-ending hip injury on the play.
