Michigan State Football: Game Preview, prediction vs. Ohio State

Michigan State football will be hosting Ohio State on Saturday afternoon and here is everything you need to know.

If you predicted that Michigan State football would be 3-7 heading into its late-November matchup with Ohio State in East Lansing, you deserve an award. Michigan State has been a huge disappointment this year and Ohio State is looking to capitalize with a nice road victory.

The Buckeyes are 9-1 and just two wins away from competing in the Big Ten title game for the third time in four years. However, the underdog has won the past four matchups between these two teams since Urban Meyer has been in Columbus. That bodes well for the Spartans.

On top of that, the weather is expected to be cold and rainy like it was last season when Michigan State pulled off a massive upset on the road. Will that play to the Spartans’ advantage as well?

Here’s how you can watch Saturday’s Michigan State football game:

Date: Saturday, Nov. 19
Time: 12:00 p.m. ET
Location: East Lansing, MI
Venue: Spartan Stadium
Live Stream: WatchESPN

Keys to Victory

If the weather is supposed to be as bad as the forecasts are saying, then this game could be a typical ground-and-pound matchup that the Spartans have been used to. Containing J.T. Barrett should be top priority on the defensive side of the ball.

Offensively, the line needs to open up big running lanes for LJ Scott while also protecting Tyler O’Connor. No more setbacks on this unit as it will need to be at its best on Saturday against an elite defense.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Ohio State -22
Over/Under: 51

Michigan State will come out strong yet again like it did against Michigan a few weeks back and score the first touchdown. However, J.T. Barrett will run wild, even with subpar weather, and put up some big points before halftime. The Spartans will make a late surge with some big Tyler O’Connor throws (surprisingly) but Ohio State holds on and avoids an upset.

Final: Ohio State 35, Michigan State 24
