In front of his family and friends at Concord De La Salle High School, top California athlete Devin Asiasi selected Michigan as his college choice. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound athlete opted for the Wolverines over UCLA, USC, Alabama, and Washington.

Asiasi is one of the more versatile prospects within the ’16 class. A true jumbo athlete, he’s played as a tight end and a defensive end in high school. Asiasi has even taken snaps as a wildcat quarterback.

As a tight end, Asiasi is a punishing blocker. He’s also equipped with soft hands and surprising athleticism for a man of his size.

While he’ll likely be given every opportunity to play at tight end, his eventual evolution size-wise could determine ultimately where he’ll line up down the line. It wouldn’t be a shock to see him transition to a defensive line position.

This is a massive pickup for Jim Harbaugh — capping what’s been a tremendous National Signing Day. Asiasi’s physical nature truly fits in perfectly with the overall feel and disposition of the program.
