The Miami Hurricanes will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta this weekend, but they'll take the field representing South Florida and one of its most beloved athletes on Saturday afternoon.

On the eve of the matchup, the official Twitter account of the university's football program shared a photo revealing that the Hurricanes would honor late Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez with a helmet decal Saturday.

The 24-year-old Fernandez died in a boating accident last weekend in Miami and has been mourned with countless tributes since. He was one of baseball's most personable young superstars with an extremely bright future ahead of him, so the outpouring of grief and sorrow over his untimely death has been enormous.

It's a very classy gesture by the university's football program to recognize Fernandez as one of their own, despite the fact that he played a different sport and isn't an alum of the school. To pay tribute to him solely because of his role in the community is a strong testament to just how much Fernandez meant to the city of Miami.
