Lane Kiffin hires younger brother as defensive coordinator at FAU

Chris Kiffin, the Ole Miss defensive line coach, will join his brother Lane Kiffin’s staff at FAU as the Owls new defensive coordinator, a source told FOX Sports Thursday.

The younger Kiffin spent five seasons with the Rebels as defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator for defense under Hugh Freeze. According to the Ole Miss website, he was selected the 2013 National Recruiter of the Year by Scout.com after helping Ole Miss land a top-five signing class. Kiffin was also tabbed one of the nation’s top 50 recruiters by 247Sports and has helped the Rebels land three more top-15 classes since then, including the 2016 haul that ranked as high as No. 4 by ESPN.com.

Kiffin has his work cut out for him. The Owls ranked No. 124 in the nation in total defense and were No. 123 in yards per play allowed this season.
