Lane Kiffin can’t ‘recall a happy moment’ while working for Nick Saban at Alabama

Lane Kiffin is in his final days as Alabama’s offensive coordinator, meaning he can open up about his past three years with Nick Saban without having to fear the wrath of the Crimson Tide’s head coach.

Kiffin, who will shift his full-time attention to being the new head coach at Florida Atlantic once Alabama’s season ends, met with the media Wednesday. And he was surprisingly candid.

Asked to recall a happy moment between him and Saban, Kiffin came up empty:

“I don’t recall a happy moment. I just recall the ass chewings. I won’t take that part of the process with me, though.”

There have been several notable instances of Saban shouting, staring or even glaring at Saban on the sidelines during games the past three seasons – even when the Tide are comfortably ahead.

However, Kiffin admitted that he and Saban “did have three great years” together and added that there are plenty of valuable lessons he learned from Saban during his tenure with the Tide.

Top-ranked and unbeaten Alabama will face Washington in the Peach Bowl on Saturday. The winner of that matchup will face Ohio State or Clemson in the National Championship Game on Jan. 9.
