Illini preparing to be without Dudek in 2015

It's looking less likely that last year's breakout WR will play a snap for the Illini in 2015.

At the beginning of the 2015 season, star WR Mikey Dudek's recovery from an ACL injury felt like a no brainer for this season.

Now halfway through the season, the topic hasn't been brought up much and there has been declining optimism that the pass catcher who had a breakout season a year ago will return in 2015. It now sounds like the team is coming to grips with the real possibility of redshirting him.

On Monday, Interim coach Bill Cubit said on Monday that Dudek could take a “couple more weeks” to heal.

That is a tough break for last season's leading receiver, who could be a real shot in the arm for the Illini offense as they look towards a bowl game.
