Huskies LG Dexter Charles forced to retire to due lingering knee injury

The Washington Huskies were dealt a huge blow this morning as offensive guard Dexter Charles announced that he would be retiring from football due to lingering knee injuries.

Charles, a senior who had started 30 games for the Huskies, was one of Washington's best lineman and was certainly the Huskies most experienced returning lineman.

Washington head coach Chris Petersen had this to say about Charles' injury in a statement released by the school:

"We're all very disappointed that Dexter's injury won't allow him to continue to play. I'm grateful for his dedications and hard work and very pleased that he earned his degree. He's interested in the coaching profession, and I wish him nothing but the best."
