Harbaugh’s camp invitation being met with rejection

It is looking more and more like Jim Harbaugh will be the only Big Ten head coach at the Michigan football camp this summer.

The Detroit News reports six coaches — Tim Beckman of Illinois, Randy Edsall of Maryland, Kirk Ferentz of Iowa, Kyle Flood of Rutgers, Darrell Hazell of Purdue and Kevin Wilson of Indiana are definitely out while Ohio State's Urban Meyer is "doubtful."

Athletics communications representatives passed along those messages to the paper, though interestingly reps from Penn State and Michigan State delivered "No" answers without even consulting James Franklin and Mark Dantonio, respectively. Given Dantonio's well-known feelings toward his in-state rival it is not hard to guess what his answer would be, but Franklin has shown himself to be enough of an outside-the-box thinker anything seems possible from him.

So who could still take up Harbaugh on his "collegial" offer? The new guys at Wisconsin (Paul Chryst) and Nebraska (Mike Riley) as well as fellow West coaches Jerry Kill of Minnesota (the reigning Big Ten Coach of the Year) and Pat Fitzgerald of Northwestern.
