Georgia Southern over Savannah State 77-9 in rout

Georgia Southern’s 77-9 rout over Savannah State on Saturday


McKinnon had help. Georgia Southern finished the game with 576

rushing yards and 650 yards of total offense. Eight different

Eagles rushed for at least a touchdown.

The 77 points was the second highest point total in Georgia

Southern history and only the sixth time the Eagles scored 70-plus

points since 2001.

The Eagles’ also dominated Savannah State on defense.

Meanwhile, the Tigers couldn’t keep their defense off the field,

going three-and-out on their first five possessions and converting

only seven first downs in the game.

Sophomore quarterback Zach Hutchenson was a bright spot for

Savannah State. He came off the bench in the third quarter and led

the Tigers to their only touchdown.

Georgia Southern averaged an NCAA-best 399 rushing yards per

game last season.
