Dominique Swope rushed for a career-high 165 yards to lead
Georgia Southern to a 31-10 victory over Wofford on Saturday,
giving the Eagles the Southern Conference championship.
Quarterback Jaybo Shaw rushed for three touchdowns for the
Eagles (9-1, 7-1), who earned their ninth conference title and
first since 2004. Shaw also threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Zach
Walker that gave Georgia Southern a 10-7 halftime lead.
Swope, a freshman who came into the game with 273 yards, had a
29-yard run during a first-quarter drive that led to the game’s
first score, a field goal. He also had runs of 15 and 24 yards on
the Eagles’ final touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.
