Georgia rehires Fountain, also adds Hankton from Vanderbilt
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Georgia coach Kirby Smart has rehired Scott Fountain as an assistant following Fountain's one month on Mississippi State's staff.
Smart on Wednesday also confirmed he has hired Cortez Hankton, who was Vanderbilt's wide receivers coach the past three years.
Fountain was Georgia's special teams analyst in 2017. He returns to Athens as an on-field assistant following his short stay as Mississippi State's special teams coordinator.
Smart says it is ''phenomenal for us'' to have Fountain back on the staff. He fills the staff position of special teams coordinator Shane Beamer, who was hired by Oklahoma.
Smart was not ready to disclose the exact roles of the 2018 staff.
Georgia had two openings because the NCAA has approved a new 10th assistant position for 2018.
