Former Georgia tight end Charles charged with DUI

Former Georgia tight end Orson Charles is out of jail following

an arrest on a drunken driving charge.

Athens-Clarke County police spokeswoman Hilda Sorrow says

Charles was arrested at 3 a.m. Friday after he was stopped while

driving in Athens. Sorrow says Charles failed parts of a field

sobriety test and his blood alcohol level was .095, above the

state’s legal limit of .08.

Athens-Clarke County jail records show he was released on $1,750

Charles had 45 catches as a junior last season. He left Georgia

to enter the NFL draft and has been projected to go high as the

second round.

It was not immediately clear whether Charles had an attorney. He

did not have a phone listing.

A passenger in the car with Charles was not identified.
