True freshman quarterback Malik Henry will be in the running for the starting job next season, according to a report by Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post.

On Wednesday, D’Angelo tweeted the FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher said that Henry has a “tremendous chance” to compete in the spring.

Henry, a four-star QB from IMG Academy, will compete against senior Sean Maguire, redshirt sophomore J.J. Cosentino and redshirt freshman Deondre Francois.

In 2015, Maguire was able to overtake Notre Dame graduate transfer Everett Golson for the Seminoles starting quarterback job and finished the year with 1,520 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions in eight games.

Maguire is currently recovering from ankle surgery and is expected to miss spring practice.
