Florida adds three players on Wednesday

On Wednesday, it marked the start of the period in which junior college players can officially sign with universities. Jim McElwain and the Florida Gators enjoyed the day immensely — as they added three new athletes to the program.

Receiver Dre Massey of Holmes Community College, ASA Miami kicker Eddy Pineiro, and running back Mark Thompson from Dodge City Community College all signed letters of intent to officially become Gators.

Massey is a true speedster — possessing legitimate deep speed to stretch the field vertically. He chose Florida over offers from South Carolina, Auburn, and Oklahoma.

The commitment of Pineiro was a massive one. Regarded as the top kicker in the country, the Florida native had been committed to Alabama for quite some time. However, he decided in the end to flip to his hometown school. Pineiro will undoubtedly come in right away and impact a very shaky kicker depth chart in Gainesville.

Thompson is a bruising back at 6'2″, 230 pounds. There isn't a true big-back within Florida's offense at this point — and Thompson looks primed to fit the bill in that capacity.
