Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison was recognized as the SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his effort in the resounding 38-10 thumping of Ole Miss. Morrison also was named as the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week. In the contest, Morrison accrued 16 tackles, including 3.5 for loss and 0.5 sacks.

Morrison endured multiple knee surgeries in the offseason to get to this point. It was a question as to how effective he’d be post-injury. However, Morrison’s leadership and steady play has been a welcomed sight for a young Gators’ defense.

He leads the team with 40 total tackles, and is tied for second with 6.5 tackles for loss on the year.
