Every defeat is a learning lesson. Unfortunately, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and the Tigers found that out the hard way when they lost to Alabama, 45-40, in the national title game Monday night.

Watson, who threw for a championship-game record 405 yards and four touchdown passes in the loss, is hoping that the defeat will provide inspiration and motivation for his team next season.

On Monday, the ACC Player of the Year posted a picture of himself on Instagram with a caption that read: “There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time. – Malcolm X 100 #GodSpeed"

The Tigers reached the title game for only the second time in school history (their first appearance was in the 1981 season) and finished the 2015 campaign with a 14-1 record to rank No. 2 in the final AP poll.
