Cardale Jones punks Oklahoma's trash-talking backup QB

Published Nov. 15, 2016 3:38 p.m. ET

It didn’t take long for former Ohio State QB Cardale Jones to respond to the bulletin-board material provided by Oklahoma backup QB Austin Kendall.

In case you missed it, Kendall made some not-so-flattering comments about the Buckeyes’ defense on “Sooner Sports TV,” calling Ohio State’s D “basic” and predicting that Sooners QB Baker Mayfield will “light them up.”

Enter Jones, who started for the Buckeyes in 2014 and 2015 and was a fourth-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2016 NFL Draft. His response:

The third-ranked Buckeyes will face No. 14 Oklahoma in Norman on Saturday (7 p.m. ET on FOX -- and available in virtual reality) in one of the premier matchups in Week 3.

Unfortunately, the game will not feature Jones and Sooners fans hope it won’t feature Kendall, since that would likely happen only if Mayfield is injured. Then again, if Mayfield does “light them up,” perhaps Kendall will be called upon in mop-up duty.
