Sooners’ Broyles becomes NCAA career catch leader
Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles has become the NCAA’s career
leader with his 317th catch during the first half of Saturday
night’s game against Kansas.
Broyles broke the receptions record set by Purdue’s Taylor
Stubblefield in 2004.
The senior from Norman, Okla., set the record with a 57-yard
touchdown catch from Landry Jones with 7:50 remaining in the first
half. Broyles caught the pass in stride on a post route and ran
untouched into the end zone. It was his fourth catch of the
Broyles, who’s averaged more than seven catches per game in his
career, also moved into first place on the Big 12’s career TD
reception list with 43. He had been tied with former Oklahoma State
wide receiver Rashaun Woods.
