Blown fuse dims lights briefly at Georgia-Vandy

A blown transformer fuse at Vanderbilt Stadium briefly knocked

out four banks of lights during the Commodores’ game with

Georgia.

The transformer blew with 2:53 left in the first half Saturday

night, taking out two sets of lights near midfield behind the

Vanderbilt bench. Two banks on the other side of the field were

also out. The game continued, and Georgia took a 20-7 lead into

halftime.

The outage left a section of seating in the shadows with the

lights dim to the right hash mark on Georgia’s side of the field

from the 30-yard line into one end zone. Workers fixed the blown

fuse to get three of the four lights back on early in the third

quarter. The fourth remained dark to avoid overloading the

fuse.
