Art Briles’ daughter sounds off on Baylor firing her dad

Baylor football coach Art Briles was suspended with intent to terminate Thursday after the university released a report that showed the football program failed to take action in sexual assault allegations against players and at points intimidated women who came forward with allegations.

The findings of the Pepper Hamilton report were unambiguous and scathing. Briles took the Bears from the bottom of the Big 12 to the top, but as FOX Sports college football writer Stewart Mandel wrote Thursday, the coach’s legacy will now be defined by this scandal, and that he should never hold another post in college football.

But one person close to Briles has spoken out in defense of the soon-to-be former coach and the "disgusting" treatment of him by the university.

Briles’ daughter, Staley Lebby, posted her thoughts to Facebook on Thursday afternoon, calling the firing part of a "media witch hunt" and that the Briles family isn’t "backing down and throwing in the towel."

Briles is expected to be fired for cause by the university. The violations detailed in the Pepper Hamilton report could leave him open to legal action.
